The best holidays in 2017

2017 is almost upon us, which means it’s time to start scoping out the best travel destinations and places to visit for the year ahead. With so many amazing cities and hideaways across the globe to explore, it’s really difficult to whittle it down to just five – but our travel experts have done just that. Where is hot on the bucket list for 2017? Read on to find out.

  1. Cape Town, South Africa

Okay, so the first one on this list is a little far, but South Africa is fast becoming a must-see holiday spot, especially for some winter sunshine. With glorious beaches, world famous wineries, fantastic wildlife viewing and heaps of adventure, it’s easy to see why – and Cape Town has it all. Lying in the shadow of Table Mountain, this beautiful city is popular with honeymooners and backpackers alike.

  1. London, UK

London may soon be out of the European Union, but it will always be the capital of the continent. This majestic city is brimming with culture and history, and with so much to see and do you could never get bored here. From one of the most renowned royal palaces in the world to iconic landmarks such as the London Eye, a few days in London is never enough. That’s why so many visitors choose to extend their stay and study in London or find work in the city.

  1. Dublin, Ireland

After just a short, cheap flight away from the UK you can step into one of the liveliest cities in the world. Home to the world’s largest Guinness brewery, the city is known for being super friendly and has so much to offer. However, it is known for its nightlife so a night out on the town partying to live music in Irish bars is definitely on the cards!

  1. Bordeaux, France

Bordeaux has often been overlooked by France’s many intriguing cities, including Paris, Normandy and exclusive southern destinations such as Nice and Cannes. However, 2017 is its time to shine, thanks to the high speed rail network which when completed will connect the city to the capital in two hours. Bordeaux has grandeur and charm, as well as legendary wine and gastronomy experiences – which is why it has made Lonely Planet‘s top of 2017 list.

  1. Moscow, Russia

As hosts of the 2018 FIFA World Cup, the cost of visiting Russia is surely set to rise. That makes 2017 the perfect time to visit, so you can get your sight-seeing done before Moscow is overtaken by football fans from across the globe. With so much history and beautiful architecture, Moscow is a sight to behold.
