Are you a doctor, nurse or medical professional looking for affordable short or mid-term accommodation in London?

If so, have you considered booking a Homestay accommodation?

Whilst working (or studying) in the medical profession is hugely respectable and commendable, it is a costly educational and professional path to take.  It often dictates that you must stay in large, expensive cities as these locations are most likely to home state-of-the-art medical facilities, research units and treatment centres. It’s no easy job… but someone’s got to do it, and we’re glad you do!

When visiting London, cost is often a prime factor.  This is especially so when it comes to short term accommodation.

Homestay is accommodation in the home of a Londoner.  Sometimes referred to as “host family” accommodation, it is one of the most affordable short (or mid-term) accommodation options in London.

Prices for a room in a homestay for seven nights in London starts from just £150 a week (just under £22 per night!) in zone 4.

Affordable Accommodation for Doctors in London

Aside from affordability, Homestays also allow you to live within the comfort of someone’s home, with people local to the area and with a variety of catering options available.  Homestays make for an unbeatable experience to really ‘live’ rather than just ‘stay’ in the locale, improving your language skills where required, and meeting new people along the way.

This makes a homestay a great option for any doctor, nurse or medical student relocating to London.

In the case of those still studying medicine, in the UK, higher and further education is greatly respected and so homestay hosts are very open to having medical students lodge with them. You can expect your hosts to show a genuine interest in your wellbeing and to have some great conversations with them.

If you already work in the medical industry, you’ll too be greeted warmly: healthcare in the UK is available both free and privately, and it is an emotive subject that many like to discuss.

Typical London homes are old, large townhouses that once were cheap to buy and run but now are extremely expensive to maintain. Letting out a room is a great way for the homeowner to bring in some extra income to help cover living costs, and to feel that they’re ‘doing their bit’ for their community.
